By JOHN M. BRODER New York Times.  Mr. Obama and his advisers are seeking support not only among relatively moderate evangelicals because of their opposition to the war. They are also trying to take advantage of signs that some conservative Christians are rethinking their politics, urged along by a new generation of leadership and intensified concern about issues including climate change, genocide, AIDS and poverty.

 By Jeffrey Sachs, NEWSWEEK- Point of View.  As drylands get drier and violence grows, new crises resembling Darfur will arise.  Poor and hungry people are vastly more likely to fall into violent conflict than rich and well-fed populations. And when the climate gets tough, people migrate.  Real solutions will require bold investments in sustainable development.

Almost halfway into 2008, the three newscasts have shown 181 weekday minutes of Iraq coverage, compared with 1,157 minutes for all of 2007. The "CBS Evening News" has devoted the fewest minutes to Iraq, 51, versus 55 minutes on ABC's "World News" and 74 minutes on "NBC Nightly News."
