Narrator 1: Jesus crossed over the sea in a boat.  A great crowd gathered around him.  A man named Jairius, who was a leader in the synagogue, approached Jesus.  Jairius was weeping and fell at Jesus’ feet and said…

Jairius: My little daughter is at the point of death.  Please, come and lay your hands on her.  I know that you can heal her and she will live!  Please come and heal my daughter.  I love her and do not want her to die.  Please.

Narrator 2: Jesus replied…

Jesus: Of course I will come.

Narrator 2: So they set off for the home of Jairius.  As they were walking, many people followed them and crowded around Jesus and his disciples and Jairius.

Narrator 3: One of the people in the crowd was a woman who had been bleeding for twelve years.  She had suffered very much.  She had spent all her money over the years on doctors, looking for someone who could help her and heal her.  None of the doctors could help, and she was getting worse.

Narrator 1: The woman had heard about Jesus.  She squeezed through the crowd and got close to Jesus.  She said to herself…

Woman: If only I can touch the edge of his cloak, I will be made well.

Narrator 2: She got as close as she could and reached out and touched Jesus’ cloak.  Immediately she felt her whole body was healed.  Jesus felt the healing power go out from him and turned around and said…

Jesus: Who touched my clothes?

Narrator 3: There were lots of people around him and his disciples said…

Disciples: You see all these people pressing in on you. Everyone is touching you. How can you say, “Who touched me?”

Narrator 1: But Jesus looked all around to see who had touched him and healed themself.  The woman knew that she had been healed and that Jesus felt it happen.  She was afraid he would be mad, and she came and fell down before him, trembling and said…

Woman: I was bleeding for twelve years.  None of the doctors could help me and it kept getting worse.  I heard about you and knew that if I could only touch your cloak, I would be healed.

Jesus: Daughter, your faith has made you well; go in peace, and be healed of your disease.

Narrator 2: While Jesus was speaking, some people came from the house of Jairius and said to Jairius…

Messenger: Your daughter is dead.  You don’t need to bother the teacher, Jesus, anymore.

Narrator 3: Jesus heard what the messenger said.  Jesus said to Jairius…

Jesus: Do not fear; only believe.

Narrator 1: They continued on until they came to the house of Jairius.  Then Jesus went in and took only Peter, James and John.  Jairius saw all the people of his household weeping and crying loudly.  Jesus said to the people…

Jesus: Why do you weep and wail?  The child is not dead, only sleeping.

Narrator 2: They laughed at Jesus.  But Jesus made them all go outside.  He took Jairius and the child’s mother and went to where the child was.  He took her by the hand and said to her…

Jesus: Talitha cum.

Narrator 3: Talitha cum means, “little girl, get up.”  Immediately, she got up and began walking around.  Everyone was overcome with amazement.  Jesus said…

Jesus: Don’t tell anyone about this.  And now, give her something to eat.

Narrators 1, 2, and 3: The end.
