THE
HEALING OF THE PARALYTIC: BASED
ON MARK 2:1-12 CHARACTERS
NARRATOR 1 NARRATOR 2 JESUS
SCRIBES
CROWD Narrator
1: Jesus
returned to Capernaum. Many people
came to the house where he was staying. So many people were there that there was
no longer room for anyone else to squeeze in the front door. Jesus was speaking to them about the word of God. Narrator
2:
Then some people came bringing a paralyzed man.
Four of the man’s friends carried him on a mat.
They believed that Jesus could heal their friend.
First, they tried to get through the door, but it was so crowded they
could not. Finally, they climbed up
on the roof and removed some of the tiles, and then they dug through the ceiling
and lowered their friend down through the hole in the roof.
When Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralyzed man…. Jesus:
Son, your sins are forgiven. Narrator
1: The
Scribes who were also there to hear Jesus were upset and offended by what Jesus
said to the paralyzed man. They said… Scribes:
Why does this man, Jesus, speak this way? It is blasphemy! Only God can forgive
sins! Jesus:
Why do you raise such questions? Which is easier, to say to the paralyzed man,
“Your sins are forgiven,” or to say, “Stand up and take your mat and
walk?” But so that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to
forgive sins, I say to the man who is paralyzed, stand up, take your mat and go
to your home. Narrator
1: The
man stood up and took his mat and want out before the entire crowd, and everyone
was amazed and glorified God, saying… Crowd:
We have never seen anything like this!!
