REFLECTION:

TRIP FOLLOW UP

There are many ways to follow up on a Mission Trip.  Some of them are:

1.     Do a worship service for the congregation.

·       Use the trip scripture.

·       Include music you sang or encountered on the trip that is appropriate for worship.

·       Include people and agencies you worked with in the prayer time.

·       Use the sermon to share participants’ experiences of where they saw the face of Christ, how the trip deepened their faith, what they learned about God’s world.

·       Decorate the sanctuary with symbols of the trip, e.g. if you did yard work for elderly people, bring in rakes, shovels, etc.  If you worked with children, bring in stuffed animals.  If you worked in a food bank, bring in canned goods and then donate them to a local food bank.

2.     Have a slide show or video presentation for the congregation of the trip, the work sites, the fun, etc.

3.     Gather the participants together with their families and do one last reflection/sharing  like you did each night on the trip, complete with journal writing and scripture and prayer.

4.     Find work sites and agencies in your local area like the ones on the trip and do ongoing volunteer work there.
