What follows are ideas for service projects that a group or individuals could do to help deepen their faith and work for compassion, service, and justice for diversity.  Some of these projects may need additional preparation and education.

1.     Make quilts or blankets for persons with AIDS (babies, children or adults)

2.     Provide events or activities for children in the community

3.     Write letters to community and government leaders about issues such as:

·       accessibility for the differently abled

·       affordable housing

·       access to adequate medical care for the elderly, the poor, children, immigrants (legal or illegal)

·       equal rights for persons of different sexual orientations

·       adequate funding for English as a Second Language programs

·       discrimination because of ethnic or racial backgrounds

4.     Volunteer with AIDS organizations

5.     Make posters that celebrate diversity and put them in your community

6.     Make anti-discrimination  posters and put them in your community

7.     Encourage your church to support groups like P-Flag (Parents and Friends of Lesbian and Gay Persons) and Gay-Straight Alliance Clubs in high schools

8.     Volunteer with battered women’s shelters

9.     Create an event where a panel of people from different religions talk about their understandings of God, justice and charity, sacred texts, prayer and meditation

10.   Make friends with people who appear different from you and learn about their world view and culture
