Information We Collect The Center for Progressive Christianity (TCPC) is the sole owner of the information collected on www.tcpc.org. TCPC gathers personal data, such as name, address, e-mail address, etc. only when voluntarily submitted by a visitor. The only other pieces of information collected from users are the following:
1. We track usage of our site by keeping log files that record internet protocol (IP) addresses, browser type, internet service provider (ISP), referring/exit pages, platform type, date/time stamp, and number of clicks. We use optional cookies on the TCPC message boards so that users do not have to log in each time they visit, but we do not use them anywhere else in the site, nor do we connect the data about your usage of our website to personally identifiable information.
2. We sometimes use embedded images ("clear gifs") in our HTML-based emails sent to subscribers of our email list (TCPC E-News) to let us know which emails have been opened by their recipients.
How Information is Used TCPC makes the contact information for organizational affiliates public through our printed and online Directory unless otherwise notified, and individual affiliates have the option to be listed in the Directory. TCPC will never sell, rent or lease personal information we collect, even if it is displayed in our Directory, and information that is not voluntarily displayed this way is considered absolutely private and will not be disclosed in any manner to any person without prior consent, unless otherwise required by law.
All names and addresses collected on the site through our mailing list, event registration, store purchase and affiliation forms will be added to our database and used to send out periodic mailings related to TCPC such as newsletters, annual reports and fundraising appeals as well as events sponsored or co-sponsored by TCPC.
Phone numbers may be used on rare occasions to confirm information or event registration, or when more immediate personal contact is required.
Unless users have subscribed to the TCPC email list (TCPC eNews), email addresses will be used only for individual contact – no bulk mailing – or to relay information specific to TCPC affiliation, event registration, or store purchases. Subscribers to TCPC E-News will receive periodic emails containing news of interest to progressive Christians, including our quarterly newsletter in digital form. Subscribers may unsubscribe at any time by clicking on the “unsubscribe” link at the bottom of every email they receive.
How Information is Protected When users submit information via the Web site, their information is protected both on and off-line. When our affiliation, event registration or order form asks users to enter sensitive information such as a credit card number, that information is encrypted and is protected with the best encryption software in the industry - SSL. Credit card numbers are not stored anywhere on our system and cannot be viewed by anyone at any point during or after the transaction.
Personal information stored offline on our server is password protected and accessible for downloading only by the TCPC board president and the TCPC web manager. With their permission, information may be viewed offline by TCPC employees, board/executive council members, event co-sponsors or volunteers in order to perform a specific task and may not be copied or reused for any other reason.
