I will be spending my summer in the quiet of my Appalachian home in the north western part of North Carolina. As some of you may have observed, the Blue Ridge Mountains are awe inspiring - as is the region's early American history and culture. Andrew Jackson as a young man was initiated into the Cherokee tribe just a few miles from my home. Even today, tall tales and back country music are everywhere. Mountain walks and pristine lakes make one forget about city life. While I am here, I will be working on several essays giving my view of contemporary religious, political, ecological and economic issues as they are now affecting America and the world. Each will run between 700 and 1400 words. I hope you will enjoy reading them. I will welcome your comments.
